La mère Couvelet (Marie)

Overview

In June–July 1879 Marie and Bojidar Karageorgevitch kept up a comic correspondence in the names of two families of the day: the Couvelets (Mme Couvelet, the former comtesse Acard, was Paul de Cassagnac's new mother-in-law) and the Arnauds (Arnaud de l'Ariège and his family). Marie signs «mère Couvelet» (085.0513); Bojidar calls her «la mère Arnaud» and she calls him «le père Couvelet» (085.0500). The names shift within the game: on 5 July Bojidar «me nomme la mère Arnaud parce que je le baptise le père Couvelet» (085.0500); on 8 July «Je lui écris en signant mère Couvelet et lui répond à la mère Arnaud» (085.0513); on 11 July she invites «le père Couvelet» to the 14 July «saisie de la Bastille» in the name of «Le père Léon, le fils Arnaud, la mère Arnaud et la mère Couvelet» (085.0527).

This entry is the mask. The real Mme Couvelet is COUVELET (and COMTESSE_ACARD); «la mère Couvelet» in the scornful remarks about Cassagnac's marriage (086.0058, 086.0096, 091.0432) is the real woman and is not tagged here. «la mère Arnaud» meaning the real Mme Arnaud de l'Ariège (087.0277) is MME_ARNAUD_DE_L_ARIEGE. «Le père Couvelet» is Bojidar (BOJIDAR).
