Fitz-James (family)

Overview

The ducal family of Fitz-James, as a group or by birth name. In the diary the most important member is the dowager duchess, Marie's patroness of 1880-84: see Duchesse de Fitz-James. No duc de Fitz-James appears in person. This file is for the passages that name the family rather than the duchess:

• A born Fitz-James: the wife of «Gaston» (de Larderel) speaks French like a Frenchwoman because «sa mère est française (Fitz James) et son père est le duc Salviati» (073.0342, 1877).
