An official of the Chamber of Deputies (Mon Journal t.12 index: «Bescherelle (M.), fonctionnaire : 150, 159»; t.13 «Bescherelle (M.) : 37, 41, 184»; t.14 «Bescherelles (M.) : 114») who controls the public galleries and their tickets, at Versailles and, from November 1879, at the Palais-Bourbon:

• November 1878 (083.0112, 083.0201): «le féroce Bescherelle»; «le furieux Bescherelle … n'a pas voulu donner un troisième billet».
• June 1879 (085.0332, 085.0334, 085.0371): during the uproar in the Chamber the questeur Margaine (MARGAINE) orders him to clear the galleries: «Allons, allons Bescherelle, reprend Margaine, faites exécuter les ordres; huissiers, faites sortir le public !» — so he ranks above the ushers.
• November 1879 – April 1881 (086.0598, 087.0462, 091.0459): «Bescherelle court toujours»; in 1881 «Bescherelles nous place dans la loge diplomatique».

Identity uncertain

We are not sure who this is. His post (a chef de service of the questure or of the galleries?) and his first name are not given, and searches of the web for a Bescherelle on the staff of the Chamber in 1878–1881 found nothing (the Almanach national and the Annuaire de la Chambre were not reachable). Nothing links him to the grammarians Louis-Nicolas Bescherelle (1802–1883) and Henri-Honoré Bescherelle (1804–1887). If you can identify him, we would be glad to hear from you.
