Relevance to Marie

  • Florence, May 1877. Marie sees the countess de Larderel «avec sa fille la comtesse de Mirafiore, charmante petite fille à la voir» (071.0109), meets the couple in their carriage near the palazzo Larderel (071.0066), and calls her «La sœur», «une jolie personne, très jolie même» (071.0073).
  • At the skating rink on 9 May the old countess comes «avec sa fille Blanche, blanche de peau, blanche de caractère, blanche de conduite», the count being away (071.0218); Blanche watches Marie kindly (071.0220) and skates with Marcuard (071.0223). On 11 May: «nous avons vu Mme de Mirafiore, Blanche» (071.0267). Marie cuts her hair like Blanche's (071.0274).
  • In the daydream of 14 July 1877 Blanche is her friend and travelling companion («Blanche est si bonne…», 072.0525).

Identity note

The Mon Journal t.10 index has «Larderei (Blanche, comtesse de), épouse de Gaston, née Salviati» and «Mirafiore (comtesse Rosine, née Larderei)». Marie's text separates Blanche from «Madame Gaston de Larderel» (071.0218), and Gaston's wife is a Salviati (see Salviati); «Rosine» is the name of the count's mother, Rosa Vercellana. Both index entries conflate people (ledger).
