Saturday I went to see Le Pere prodigue. Sunday Saint-Amand and Madame Cerny, and Gavini; then Monday at the Francais.

Samedi j'ai été voir un Père Prodigue. Dimanche Saint Amand et la Cerny, et Gavini puis lundi au Français.

And then the arrival of a certain Trebinsky, well-born and rich it seems, cousin of Domenica. I have not yet seen the gentleman, who has come twice bringing oriental fabrics and jewels on behalf of Maman.

Et puis l'arrivée d'un sieur Trebinsky, bien né et riche paraît-il, cousin de Domenica. Je n'ai pas encore vu le monsieur qui est venu deux fois apportant des étoffes orientales et bijoux de la part de maman.

Le père, la jeune fille en question et sa sœur sortent se promener dans leur parc, ils n'ont pas fait dix pas que cinquante hommes se précipitent, enlèvent l'infante et la jettent dans une voiture qui part au galop. Le père et la sœur bâillonnés et enlevés et portés comme des paquets dans leur noble demeure. Cinq voitures attelées de six chevaux chacune étaient espacées sur la route de sorte que la brigade de soldats et les officiers envoyés à la poursuite des fugitifs n'arrivèrent qu'une demi-heure après la célébration de la cérémonie.

I have just come from Madame de Brimont's, who was... besides, we both were steeped in pleasantries. She kissed me four times.

Je sors de chez Mme de Brimont qui a été... du reste toutes les deux nous avons été confites d'amabilités. Elle m'a embrassée quatre fois.
