I worked like a bricklayer until half past nine in the evening. I have not yet sent the... dissertation to Soutzo. Is it worth the trouble? That is the question. But it amuses me to arrange it; I believe I have a talent for literature. I am trying in this letter to say exactly what I mean --- it is very difficult, and so one must take time with it, unlike these notes I dash off at full steam.
And then I am wary: if that boy does not love me, I would be displeased to have expended myself.
