I go out in my blue dress without the tunic, looking wretched.Jeudi, 11 mars 1875
At the Latin lesson I feel poorly, for I am unwell; the first day I suffer a little.
Brunet is very pleased with my Latin, which delights me, for it is almost the only thing I study with pleasure.
The Sapogenikoffs dine and spend the evening with us; my aunt has been in San Remo for two days.
I spoke to Marie about her romance with Cima; she denies it just enough not to seem brazen, and when I told her how I should love to see her in her wedding dress, that they seemed to me like children, she had the good sense to laugh and say it would be the Cinderella wedding1 (played by children, here at the circus).
Notes
Marie’s French title: Cendrillon. ↩
