Identity

The family's maître d'hôtel in Nice, 1874-75. Marie names him so herself: "Arthur le maître d'hôtel" (024.0284, 10 October 1874); the Mon Journal tome 4 index has "Arthur (M.), maître d'hôtel". In February 1875 Marie judges that he would be a good servant if the house were properly kept ("Arthur qui ... ayant servi dans de bonnes maisons mais ici mal", 029.0158, 1 February 1875). She sends him to the police with her protest after the dog incident of 28-29 December 1874 (028.0072). In June 1875 he has been taken back into service ("Arthur, que j'ai fait reprendre", 034.0414, 19 June 1875).

Not the same person as Prince Arthur of England (030.0374), Arthur Danis (039, 047), John Arthur (073) or Arthur Foster (080).
