Mlle de Fodoas
Also known as: Mlle de Fodoas, Fodoas, la chanoinesse de Faudoas
Overview
Mlle de Faudoas, a chanoinesse (a lay canoness, an honorary title of noble unmarried women), an acquaintance of the Gavini household whom Marie meets in Paris in 1878–1879. The print spells her name two ways: «Mlle de Fodoas, la chanoinesse» (084.0030, 15 January 1879; Mon Journal t.12 index «Fodoas (Mme de), chanoinesse : 199») and «La chanoinesse de Faudoas» (085.0529, 11 July 1879; t.13 index «Faudoas (Mlle de), chaoinesse : 56»). Faudoas is an old noble family of Gascony; «Fodoas» is probably a phonetic spelling of it.

The Gavinis' chanoinesse of 1878 is taken to be the same woman (0.8): in 084.0030 Marie names her as «la chanoinesse», the one she already knows, and no other chanoinesse appears in these carnets. (The «chanoinesse» of 088/1880-05-10, said to be the mother of «la petite Juvisy», is someone else.)
Identity
Her first name and family branch are not known to us. The duplicate stub FAUDOAS (085.0529) is the same woman.
