Mme Mouzay and Blanc who instead of
We go to the Bois to skate on the lake, and then to the Gavinis’, where we make the acquaintance of Count J. Murat, president of the Appel du peuple group.
At dinner, the Mouzays and Blanc, who, instead of making up my aunt’s card table, recites fragments of Hamlet lying in front of my fireplace, and then, seizing now the mandolin, now the guitar, sings and mimes serenades. Bojidar and Alexis were there too; the Princess, old Mme Mouzay and my mothers stayed in the blue drawing room, and we in my rooms.
Everyone was in high spirits, and we parted to the tune of Fohrbach’s polka. These people are my little court; I sit enthroned and we talk, without ever speaking ill of our neighbour — that, moreover, perhaps because we do not know enough people.
