Blanc arrived in the afternoon and this evening I await Berthe.
Blanc est arrivé dans l'après-midi et ce soir j'attends Berthe.
"There will be such gossip!" cries the eternal frigate captain. Racing ball this evening, we are going and around midnight Dina and Berthe arrive, who had just time to change her dress. We promenade with our gentlemen with the firm conviction that we are the most chicchic.
Il y a en aura du potin ! s'écrie l'éternel capitaine de Frégate. Bal des courses ce soir, nous y allons et vers minuit arrivent Dina et Berthe qui a eu juste le temps de faire une toilette. Nous nous promenons avec nos messieurs avec la ferme conviction que nous sommes les plus chic.
We dance but at one o'clock in the morning some cocottes arrive whom some brutes invite to dance, so we leave the ball. Berthe sleeps in my room which was already half a painting studio.
Nous dansons mais à une heure du matin arrivent des cocottes que quelques abrutis invitent à danser, alors nous quittons le bal. Berthe couche dans ma chambre qui était déjà à moitié atelier de peinture.
