We went walking with Pelikan the lame, the deaf, the infirm, and Mme Zurmüllen. The poor old man imagines he is in love with this lady, and Nice is already slandering her. It is sad and consoling.Jeudi 11 janvier 1877 Nous nous sommes promenés avec Pelikan le boiteux, le sourd, l’impotent, et Mme Zurmüllen. Le pauvre vieux s’imagine qu’il est amoureux de cette dame et Nice la calomnie déjà. C’est triste et consolant.
