After waiting two hours -- two hours, without exaggerating by a minute -- two hours at Laferriere's, I finally tried on my grey outfit and ordered another dress; Maman too, a black dress.

Après avoir attendu deux heures, deux heures, sans augmenter une minute, deux heures chez Laferrière, j'ai enfin essayé mon costume gris, et commandé une autre robe; maman aussi, une robe noire.

Stupefied, I came out of there. Then after running about for quite some time, I finally found a hat that suits me very well but is not the style I like.

Hébétée, je sortis de là. Puis après avoir couru assez longtemps, j'ai enfin trouvé un chapeau qui me va très bien mais qui n'est pas du genre que j'aime.

On the Rue de la Paix we met the Prince de Bravura -- prinze, as we used to call him. He has grown handsomer and taller.

Sur la rue de la Paix nous rencontrâmes le prince de *Bravura ; ★prinze** comme nous le nommions. Il a embelli et grandi.

Towards the end of our dinner at the Russian bistrot, Paul arrives with Striker (we met them the day we arrived, in the lift at the Splendide Hotel). Maman and Dina want to run through the streets again; I refuse this noble occupation and return home between Paul and Striker.

Vers la fin de notre dîner au **bistrot** russe, Paul vient avec Striker (nous les avons rencontré le jour où nous arrivâmes, dans l'ascenseur du Splendide Hôtel). Maman et Dina veulent encore courir les rues, je refuse cette noble occupation et je rentre entre Paul et Striker.

To amuse myself I make them wrestle; the chairs and the mirrors were threatened. I try my own strength at lifting chairs, etc., etc. Then we play Kings, Idiots, and My Trumps -- games taught me by Marthe Maximova, my nursemaid, and which are my favourites.

Pour m'amuser je les fais lutter, les chaises et les glaces étaient menacées. J'essaye moi-même ma force à soulever des chaises etc. etc. Nous jouons ensuite aux rois, aux *idiots* et à *mes atouts* jeux que m'enseigna *Marthe Maximova*, ma bonne, et qui est mon favori.

It was silly and amusing.

C'était bête et amusant.
