[Samedi, 7 mars 1874]

All this week I have missed several lessons, always because of this Ravel which is being repaired.

[Toute cette semaine j'ai manqué plusieurs leçons, toujours à cause de ce Ravel qu'on raccommode.]

Today at last I had it. We ran thirty-six errands with Machenka.

[Aujourd'hui enfin je l'ai pris. Nous avons fait avec Machenka trente-six commissions.]

The English teacher came this morning; the first lesson is on Monday.

[Le professeur d'anglais était venu ce matin, à lundi la première leçon.]

At three o'clock I go to 55, but Biasini who was supposed to be there came only at four when I had already left, having Brunet at a quarter past four.

[A trois heures je vais à 55 mais Biasini qui devait y être ne vint qu'à quatre heures lorsque j'étais déjà partie ayant Brunet à quatre heures un quart.]

Le Bec, after a long absence, has appeared again at the Promenade, but alone with the mother.

[Le Bec après une longue absence a paru de nouveau à la Promenade, mais seul avec la maman.]

Papa and my aunt join us at 55 and we all leave together -- I, my aunt, Papa, Paul, Machenka and Stiopa. Machenka between me and my aunt.

[Papa et ma tante nous rejoignent au 55 et nous partons tous ensemble, moi, ma tante, papa, Paul, Machenka et Stiopa. Machenka entre moi et ma tante.]

I went to Simone's, but she was out; it is really tiresome how she makes one wait! I am very impatient and gave her seamstresses a good talking-to. I want my grey dress and this woman does not come!

[J'étais chez Simone, mais elle était sortie; c'est vraiment ennuyeux comme elle fait attendre ! Je suis très impatientée et j'ai bien parlé à ses ouvrières. Je veux ma robe grise et cette femme ne vient pas !]

In the evening we play, then I read, so that I do not go to bed until one o'clock.

[Le soir nous jouons, puis je lis, de sorte que je ne me couche qu'à une heure.]

They made me blush about Lambertye; they tease a little -- not me, but because he looks. I am bored when I go out if I do not see his face; he amuses me.

[On m'a fait rougir pour Lambertye; on se moque légèrement; pas de moi, mais parce qu'il regarde. Je m'ennuie quand je sors si je ne vois pas sa face, il m'amuse.]

I have made a little plan for the new constructions. How many discussions on account of these constructions, the furniture, the garden!

[J'ai fait un petit plan pour les nouvelles constructions. Combien de discussions à cause de ces constructions, des meubles, du jardin !]
