(Green dress — I wear nothing else; all the better.) I tried on my two dresses; at Worth's, I changed the fabric. They had used ordinary serge. But I changed it.
I do not yet know what to think of Laferriere, but so far she does not please me. There I took the address for hats: Reboux, rue de la Paix, 23. By prices it is the first; by hats, I do not know. That is to say, for ladies she has pretty hats, but not for me.
I ordered a black felt hat: eighty-five francs.
I subscribed to Le Derby — twenty-eight francs a year. Now it rains, now it is hot. Dinner at the Russian restaurant. Dina ordered some filthy stuff with onions. I am furious, and instead of eating I played the piano. As we are opposite the Opera-Comique, we went there: Zampa, for the 475th performance.
I see Zampa for the first time.
We took a stage box. But the cashier made a mistake and they sent us up to heaven; when I saw where I was, I rebel. I take Paul's arm and we descend back to earth to demand an explanation. They return our tickets, and we go to the first tier. But the boxes are abominable, and we go to the balcony, losing three francs on each seat — but there we have air and we can see.
