Comtesse Antonelli, née Garcia

Overview

The wife of Pietro Antonelli's first cousin, the only son of one of Cardinal Antonelli's brothers, and daughter of the comtesse Garcia, an old friend of Mme de Mouzay. Marie: «Le premier a un fils qui, marié à la fille de la comtesse Garcia depuis huit ans déjà, n'a pas d'enfants et n'en aura pas» (059.0601); «Le beau-père de la Garcia donnera sa fortune à son fils. Mais son fils n'a pas d'enfants et sa femme née Garcia est trop grasse pour lui en donner» (059.0630). Mme de Mouzay's letter of recommendation of December 1875 is addressed to her: «une pour la comtesse Antonelli née Garcia, palais Antonelli» (051.0104). In Paris on 17 July 1876 Marie thinks she recognises her portrait: «N'est-ce pas que c'est la comtesse Antonelli, née Garcia, c'est son portrait ?» (063.0406).

Not Camilla Folchi, comtesse Antonelli, Pietro's mother. Her mother, «ma vieille amie la comtesse Garcia, dont la fille est mariée au comte Antonelli» (063.0071, Mme de Mouzay speaking), has no file; «chez la Garcia» (063.0079) and «la comtesse Garcia, aura beaucoup» (063.0752) are probably the mother. The Mon Journal t.8 index entry «Antonelli (Comtesse, née Garcia)» lists many pages of May 1876 that concern Pietro's mother; it is not a safe guide.
