Description
The marquis Niccolini of Florence, Larderel's adversary in a sabre duel at Florence on 3 March 1877, fought over Larderel's mistress La Righi (069.0343–0350, 069.0466). Mon Journal t.10 index: «Niccolini ((marquis), 36, 38, 65-66, 114, 148, 150, 154-155, 167, 170». Kernberger (2013, glossary): «Nicolini, Marchese: wounded in duel with Larderel».Marie learns his name on 18 March from her mandolin teacher (069.0429); «le marquis Niccolini a été légèrement blessé, lui aussi, mais il est le premier tireur de sabre de Florence» (069.0462). On 1 April she reports Larderel's revenge: while Niccolini was ill, Larderel spent the night with La Righi and left her a thousand francs «pour ton amant» (069.0687). Not to be confused with the tenor Ernest Nicolini, Adelina Patti's partner (Kernberger lists both).
