«Mme Caroline», the head dressmaker («la grande madame Caroline», «reine des chiffons») of the house of Laferrière, whom Marie names in place of the house: «Chez Caroline, j'aime mieux dire Caroline que Laferrière» (020, 1874-06-08); «la visite chez Caroline, c'est-à-dire chez Laferrière» (020, 1874-06-22). The edition's index has «Caroline (couturière)» and «Hortense (Mme), couturière chez Caroline» (Mon Journal t.8, index). Her surname is not found.

Older RSR notes in 008 (1873-08-21) and 028 (1875-01-14) call her the milliner Caroline Reboux; Marie's own words above tie her to Laferrière, a dressmaker, not to Reboux (reported to the open-items ledger, 2026-10-21).
