His first name is not given.

Relevance to Marie

  • 5 March 1882: he has just lost 125,000 francs; he lunched with the family the other day, «un grand jeune homme blond assez beau, du meilleur monde», who gave Marie and Dina «un drôle d'effet» (094.0300, 094.0301). On 11 March he is «devenu de la famille» (094.0304) and goes on to Nice with them (094.0339).
  • 8 April 1882: «ce cher Savine, un joli monsieur». He had lost everything, borrowed «à droite et à gauche», played again instead of settling the hotel bill, moved into the villa of BARNOLA and finally slapped an Italian at the London House in a quarrel at cards and refused to fight; the Italian witnesses called him a coward and he vanished (094.0375, 094.0376). «Cet horrible Savine se disait partout le propre neveu de papa.»
  • 10 April: Larderel says little against him; Barnola uses the word taré (094.0380).
