Not the Poltava Mme Abaza (1876)

The Poltava lady «Mlle Dietrich qui, devenue Mme Abaza» of 2 November 1876 (067.0618-0626; t.9 index «Abaza (Mme) (née Dietrich)») has her own entry, Mme Abaza of Poltava. She is not this woman (0.8): the Soden Mme Abaza has a daughter nearly sixteen in August 1878 (082.0075), lives «la plupart du temps à l'étranger» (081.0420), and Marie introduces her as a stranger, «D'une Mme Abaza» (081.0390).

Soden and the Riviera, 1878-1879

Marie meets her at Soden in July 1878: «Madame Abaza petite femme brune, élégante, un peu grosse, a chanté aujourd'hui [...] Elle est malheureuse avec son mari et sous prétexte de maladie obtient de lui de rester la plupart du temps à l'étranger» (081.0420). They correspond afterwards; she is at San Remo in February 1879 (084/1879-02-03). Mon Journal t.12 index: «Abaza (Mme)», no first name or maiden name. Her identity is not established.
