A Russian general living in Nice in 1876-1877, an intimate friend of thirty years of M. Nicolas Anitchkoff (068.0754). Kernberger (2013, glossary) lists him simply as "Wolf: General". Like Anitchkoff he is named Nicolas and celebrates his name day on St Nicholas's day, 6 December Old Style = 18 December New Style (068.0227-0131).Not the same person as Albert Wolff, the Figaro art critic of the 1880s (see WOLFF).
Relevance to Marie
Wolf belongs to the circle of elderly Russians around the Anitchkoffs that Marie finds stifling in Nice. In the «Pierret affair» of January 1877, M. Gustave Pierret names «le général Wolf» as one of the few people he walks with (068.0489); after Marie's interview with Pierret, Pierret goes straight to Wolf for an explanation, and Wolf sulks at the Bashkirtseffs (068.0754). He appears in 067 as «le général Wolf» among the family's guests.References in Diary
