Aggravations! The drawings had been mixed up and half the competition was not judged. Great commotion — Julian comes upstairs and begins explaining I know not what. I, who was thinking of something else, leaning against the door, let out a formidable yawn that said clearly: "Ah, how all this bores me!" Julian, already exasperated, turns and tells me I need only go home if I am not enjoying myself. I found nothing to reply — I had not done it on purpose and had not the slightest wish to be rude.
For two days now the illustrious artist has gone past without correcting my work, and this makes for a tense atmosphere at the atelier — which irritates me!
And today it is this Daillens who felt the need to say three disagreeable things to me, on the pretext that I have been to the Mirandas' and not to hers.
The creature — she is like her mother. And both of them so envious.
