I spend the whole morning at the Gavinis', and in the evening we have the Baroness Colucci and her daughter and Madame Karageorgevitch with Bojidar. We keep these last two for dinner, and the Princess marks her visit with a little speech so sweet regarding her own father, who it seems has exiled them or I know not what. She tells me so much about him that I must say: well then, he is a scoundrel — let us speak no more of it.
Ah, how people slander! We never know anything.
It seems that Berthe is on the blacklist and that she made such a show of herself at Dieppe with Blanc, etc., etc.
It is the Tchoumakoff woman who says so; it seems she is "ruined"!
