Yesterday, finally, at eight in the evening, Maman and Dina departed. I would have cried, but we arrived ten minutes before departure — we were so rushed that I did not grow sentimental.

Hier enfin à huit heures du soir maman et Dina sont parties. J'aurais pleuré mais nous sommes arrivés dix minutes avant le départ, on était si pressé que je ne me suis pas attendrie.

Anitchkoff, Pelikan, and Soutzo, naturally. The poor devil sympathizes with the grief we may feel and looks at me tenderly... Yesterday evening at the Salon, he spent his time gazing at me like a soul in torment. If he is not in love, he affects a love that everyone can see.

Tchoumakoff est arrivé pendant que je riais aux éclats alors le petit est allé jouer avec ma tante et je suis restée jusqu'à onze heures à causer peinture.
