At the Salon with Mademoiselle de Villevieille. We abandon the family and Mme de Bailleul and Pelikan and Anitchkoff and go to find Caillas and Kiriewsky, making our way through the Exhibition.
Morot's Good Samaritan is a stunning piece of painting. Bonnat's Job, which is broad, well-drawn, and well-painted, looks like mere prettiness after the Morot. We encounter Gavini and Kiki and the family, and it all ends with a visit to Caillas' studio. I am pretty. As for my painting, it receives enough attention for having been placed in the gallery.
This evening at the Opera with the Gavinis, in the box of the Prince de Honiau... The Marquis de Las Cases, the Marquis de Chateaurenard, the Count de Chaudordy, the Duke de Rivoli... This heap of diplomats and faded dandies bores me this evening. Les Huguenots is long.
