I went to see the Exhibition of the Mirlitons with Mlle de Villevieille, at 11 o'clock, leaving an hour earlier from the studio. There is a Detaille so beautiful that I would buy it if I had the money. And at four o'clock it is with de Daillens that I leave the studio; we go to eat cakes at Guene's; I take her home laughing, and then on the Champs-Elysees in the mist I saw Arnaud on horseback. It reminded me so cruelly of Juliette Lamber, in everything, that I began to weep all alone in the carriage... And it is Hecht. But why?! I have never done anything to him.
This evening, descending the staircase of the Opera on the arm of Count J. Murat, I saw him; he was also descending, almost in front of me; he went to the right, we to the left, to go to the round room where everyone waits for their carriages. That horrible Jew! I would like to meet him to see his face. I was in white tulle with a bouquet of fresh lily-of-the-valley at my bodice. Mme Gavini, Dina, Las Cases, Murat and his son, Filippini nicknamed Kiki, Gavini, and Casa-Riera with her cavalier...
Soutzo came to the box to bring bonbons.
