Yesterday we had to dinner Berthe and her husband, M. de Morgan, Bojidar and Miloradovitch. The latter recounted to Maman the unkindnesses done to him at Gavronzi, the distinguished Pacha and Michka Eristoff. Oh! the scoundrels! Fortunately it did nothing to me! And my dear father then! This evening I hardly spoke to him but I maneuvered so as to appear very much a woman of the world and gracious to all. It is I believe what touches this little fool the most.
He has 300,000 francs income for certain and a brilliant position, relations and connections very chic and despite myself I would very much like to make his conquest... Oh! without it costing me a gesture for example and... in sum I am always of the same opinion, I believe I would accept him... perhaps and I believe it would make me unhappy.
Finally, the Good Lord is no doubt keeping a charming surprise for me for my troubles.
