On the subject of the subscription for the Orphans of Auteuil, which Le Figaro initiated and which raised three hundred thousand francs, Paul de Cassagnac has launched an article thundering against the Republicans who are showered with benefits by the Conservatives they curse and revile.
I am annoyed to see him always riding the same hobby horse — these repetitions, these eternal attacks grow wearisome and make no impression. Following this article, Le Figaro published one of its own thanking him for the praise bestowed upon it, but beseeching its colleagues not to mix politics with a purely humanitarian work, and further observing that it is unjust to strike down the people who contributed just as the wealthy did — each brought his small offering, as can be seen in the lists.
