The Hohenlohes — from the German Embassy in Paris — are coming here. Also the family of General Loris-Mélikoff, ennobled as count after the last war. These latter do not intimidate me — they are friends of the Lisanders at Wiesbaden. I should dearly like to make the acquaintance of both, and above all of the Hohenlohes... Meanwhile my calm is disturbed.
It is cold. Thilenius, no doubt to encourage me, told me this morning that he was not at all certain he could cure me. These Germans!
