I did not go to the studio because they cannot give me 170 francs. They tell me I make scenes because I have nothing to do and that it is my character. Naturally I wept for an hour.

Je ne suis pas allée à l'atelier parce qu'on ne peut pas me donner 170 francs. Ils me disent que je fais des scènes parce que je n'ai rien à faire et que c'est mon caractère. Naturellement j'ai pleuré pendant une heure.

You see clearly — I have been forced to give up everything; one consolation alone remains to me, and it is poisoned.

Vous voyez bien, j'ai été forcée de renoncer à tout, une seule consolation me reste et elle est empoisonnée.

Carie des Perrières a passé la soirée avec nous, et je n'étais pas trop bête. A minuit sont arrivées Mmes Doubelt et Lisinger. Le comte était déjà parti, après être revenu trois fois de la porte vers la table, je crois qu'il se plaît à causer avec moi, comme moi avec lui d'ailleurs.
