I take a long walk with Dina — to the countryside! beyond the Avenue de la Gare. I am pleased with my face and consequently am in very good spirits.
Je fais une longue promenade avec Dina; à la campagne ! au delà de l’avenue de la Gare, je suis contente de ma figure et par conséquent suis de très bonne humeur.
Grandpapa irritates me by always speaking of Monaco and taking a tone I do not find proper concerning the pilgrimages Maman and my aunt make there.
Grand-papa m’énerve en parlant toujours de Monaco, et en prenant un ton que je ne trouve pas convenable, concernant les pèlerinages qu’y font maman et ma tante.
I withdraw and finish dining in my room. Arthur the butler comes to tell me a quantity of things regarding the household service; he has divined that he must address himself to me. He is an old character who chatters continually and tells how his father and he were always in royal households, and how he was coachman to some prince de Condé or other, and how the stables at Chantilly are arranged, and so forth.
Je me retire et finis à dîner chez moi, Arthur le maître d’hôtel, vient me dire une quantité de choses par rapport au service, il a deviné qu’il faut s’adresser à moi. C’est un vieux drôle qui bavarde continuellement et raconte que son père et lui ont toujours été dans des maisons royales, et comment il était cocher de je ne sais quel prince de Condé, et comment sont les écuries de Chantilly etc.
