Vendredi, 26 juin 1874

It rains. They go out before me, giving me a rendezvous at the baths. In full rain costume I go there; I remain in the salon looking at engravings, thinking they will come out any moment. Only after an hour... they enter. Having forgotten me, these ladies, instead of going to the baths, went into town. I returned, for to wait another hour would have been too much.

Il pleut. On sort avant moi me donnant rendez-vous aux bains; en costume complet de pluie, je m'y rends, je reste au salon regardant des gravures et pense qu'elles vont sortir d'un instant à l'autre. Au bout d'une heure seulement... elles entrent. M'ayant oubliée, *ces dames,* au lieu d'aller aux bains, allèrent en ville. Je rentrai, car les attendre encore une heure c'eut été trop.

I was hungry; I ate nearly an entire chicken and a basket of strawberries while reading.

J'avais faim, j'ai mangé un poulet presque entier et une corbeille de fraises tout en lisant.

I went out very little; a day passed eating and reading before a little table.

Le soir à la musique avec Viviani, on a fait connaissance de Mme Basilévitch.

We went into the Casino; I leave before the dances, which were very wretched, so I was told on returning.

Nous entrâmes au Casino, je pars avant les danses qui étaient fort misérables à ce qu'on m'a dit en rentrant.
