I wake by myself; it is so cool that I must put on my winter waterproof to dress. I go out with Maman at ten o'clock; we call on Mme Anitchkoff and visit the Villa Speraniza. There are charming little paintings, from one of which I borrow the style for my pink bodice. Tomorrow I shall send for Garach and she will make this bodice for me. I can have my clothes made either at a very good establishment or at a Garach's, who executes exactly what one wants.
At nine o'clock I go out; I tell Garach to come tomorrow. On returning I find Khalkionoff at our house. Maman and my aunt are at Monaco. Khalkionoff dines with us. After dinner we go up to the studio; Dina has bared her thick dark arms and her neck. Poor thing, she believes herself so well formed! She is all inspired, her eyes shining; she imagines she is pretty, she has the air of triumphing... Over what?... Paul set off fireworks. Antonio sang -- he is a second Nikolor. What grimaces! We laughed a great deal yesterday. It has been a long time since we laughed.
The moonlight is very beautiful. For several days I have been unable to write. I am afraid of writing nonsense, and I keep my journal as one jots down a note.
