Out looking for apartments (grey travel dress). I found a house that suits us very well, but everyone, without having seen it, is against it — that annoys me.
Mlle Collignon no longer gives me lessons; she leaves Thursday. The whole evening I am free. We were together in the drawing room — Mme Daniloff was playing cards with Walitsky, Maman and my aunt on the sofa, Dina near the players, and I at the piano. I played quite well. Afterwards we chatted peacefully (it is very rare in our house). I recited a canto of Dante. They joked; the time passed pleasantly. Then M. and Mme Patton arrive and begin to talk about the case: that one cannot leave it like this, that our honour is under attack, that Georges must come, etc. etc. etc. That he must come. We cannot force him — but I know how to manage it. I shall pray God to inspire him with reason, to make him come.
