Overview

A Parisian society lady of the Gavini circle in 1881–82, «Mme de Thouvenel» in the Mon Journal t.14 index (pp. 117, 274, 280). She is not further identified; the surname is that of the diplomat Édouard Thouvenel (1818–1866), the foreign minister of Napoleon III, but the diary does not say whether she is a relative.

Relevance to Marie

Marie names her among the pretty women of the season: at the Pré Catalan on Easter Day 1881, «Mmes de Reverseaux, Thouvenel, de Joly, Janvier etc.» (091.0484); at the Gavini evening of 13 January 1882, «le ravissant trio Mmes de Reverseaux, fille de Janvier de la Motte, Thouvenel et de Jolly» (094.0159); and at the Théâtre-Français on 23 January 1882 the hall is full of strangers «sauf Mmes de Jolly et Thouvenel» (094.0201).

Identity uncertain

No first name or husband is given; the family link to Édouard Thouvenel is only a possibility. If you can identify her, we would be glad to hear from you.
