Marshal of the nobility (maréchal de la noblesse) of the government of Poltava in 1881; Marie's father is marshal of only one of its 13 or 15 districts (092.0233). He comes uninvited to the Gavronzi name-day dinner (092.0088, 2 June 1881), joins the family at dinner in Poltava (092.0232, 9 July 1881) and calls at their hotel (092.0255).

Marie's portrait of him (092.0233): «un prétentieux imbécile rimeur prudhommesque et grotesque qui passe pour grand esprit et bel homme»; elected «par surprise», «d'excellente famille riche, bien marié et imbécile, mais pas décoré». Vexed at having missed Prince Mirsky's visit, he complains to her father for having received the prince; Marie vows: «dans deux ans je viendrai aider et renverser ce soliveau insolent». His first name is not given in the diary. The former entry M_OUSTIMOVITCH (misfiled under culture/literature) is merged here.
