A lady living in Nice, almost next door to the Bashkirtseffs, in the winter of 1876-1877. Marie first describes her on 7 January 1877: «une ravissante blonde cendrée aux sourcils teints en noir, et au teint blanc comme le lait» (068.0464). Kernberger (2013, glossary) lists her as "Zurmüllen: lady with good manners", after Marie's remark that she is «ravissante et comme il faut lorsqu'elle ne bouge pas» (068.0822).Relevance to Marie
Old Pelikan is infatuated with her, and Nice already gossips about it (068.0594); Broussais intrigues to detach him, and Pelikan leaves on a journey to cool off (068.0970, 068.1142). She is a regular guest at the Bashkirtseffs' dinners (068.0821, 068.0942) and introduces M. Bikowsky to Marie (068.0977). Marie finds her trivial when the handsome Gautier animates her: «Rien ne me déplaît comme les classes moyennes» (068.0822).References in Diary
