Overview

France's national theatre in Paris, in the Salle Richelieu on the rue de Richelieu, also called the Théâtre-Français. Its general administrator through all the diary's Paris years was Émile Perrin (1814–1885), in office from 8 July 1871 to 8 October 1885 (en.wikipedia «List of administrators of the Comédie-Française»; «Émile Perrin»).

Not to be confused with the Théâtre-Français of Nice, which Marie also calls «le Théâtre Français» (see Théâtre-Français (Nice)).

Relevance to Marie

From 1878 on, an evening «au Français» is part of the family's Paris social round, often in the box of the Gavinis or other friends.
