Identity

A Russian family, «d'anciennes connaissances» of the Bashkirtseffs (022/1874-08-04), who are at Ostende in August 1874 when the family arrives from Spa («Les Tamanchoff sont ici», 023.0105): Mme Tamancheff, her son Georges and, most likely, the girls Lise and Katia with whom Marie bathes and spends her days (Mon Journal t.4 index «Tamancheff (Georges)», «Tamancheff (Mme)», and, on the same pages, «Lise (Mlle), 108, 110, 113-115», «Katia (Mlle), 108, 113-114», given without surname). Marie: «Ils sont riches et nobles et cependant ont l'air …» (023/1874-08-25). They leave Ostende on 26 August 1874; «Après nous allons au salon, Dina, Lise, Katia, moi, Paul et Georges. Lise, ce cœur d'or, pleure déjà … Maintenant qu'ils partent j'en suis très fâchée» (023.0321) ties the girls to the departing family (0.8). Marie writes to them afterwards (024/1874-09-18, 025.0198).

«Lise» here is not Lise Howard (#Lise), whom Marie sees again with her family in September (023.0654).
