Overview

Paris jewellery house founded in 1613 and still run by the family, at 9 rue de la Paix since the early nineteenth century (Wikipedia, "Mellerio dits Meller", gives 1815 for the move; other sources give 1832). It supplied the court and the aristocracy and won prizes at the Paris Expositions of 1867 and 1889.

Relevance to Marie

In Paris in July 1876 Marie gives her diamonds to Mellerio to be reset: «J'ai donné mes diamants à Mellerio qui me fera des bijoux à la mode, non, à ma mode» (063.0136, 10 July). On 13 July she notes that a young man followed them «hier depuis Mellerio où nous avons été donner des diamants à monter» (063.0205). The edition's index lists «Mellerio (bijoutier)» (Mon Journal t.8, index, pp.264, 273).
