Hôtel Splendide (Paris)

Overview

A Paris hotel, in the diary «l'hôtel Splendide» (once «Splendid»), known as Emile d'Audiffret's Paris address. A 2026-02-09 RSR comment on 049.0508 places it in the rue de Rivoli; that location is not given by the diary and has not been confirmed here. Only the 1875–76 mentions are tagged.

In the diary

• 21 July 1875 (Nice): a telegram announces that Audiffret «vient d'arriver à Paris… Il est à l'hôtel Splendid» for ten or twelve days (037.0338; again 037.0466, 27 July). From Paris, on 1 August, Marie's correspondent writes «Il loge à l'hôtel Splendid tout à côté de moi» (038.0008).
• 26 September 1875 (Nice): in Marie's banter, «nous irons à l'hôtel Splendide, nous irons voir le procès Veauradieux» (045.0044); on 1 October she writes to «M. Emile d'Audiffret à Paris, à l'hôtel Splendide» (045.0432).
• 17 November 1875 (Paris): arriving at six, the family finds nothing at the Grand Hôtel «nous prenons un logement à l'hôtel Splendide, l'hôtel de l'homme» (049.0508): the hotel is Audiffret's.
• 3 August 1876 (Eydtkuhnen): Audiffret chose the Grand Hôtel, Marie's hotel, «au lieu de l'hôtel Splendide, qui est le sien» (064.0394).

• 19 May 1874 (merged entry SPLENDIDE_HOTEL): Paul and Striker, «nous les avons rencontré le jour où nous arrivâmes, dans l'ascenseur du Splendide Hôtel» (019.0288). The Splendide Hôtel was the large hotel on the place de l'Opéra; the same house (0.8).
