There is a ball this evening at the Hôtel Continental in aid of the women’s charitable association. Maman being a patroness, we go. I wear white tulle with a garland of lily of the valley across the dress.
Il y a un bal ce soir à l’hôtel Continental au profit de l’association charitable des femmes du monde. Maman étant patronnesse nous y allons. Moi en tulle blanc avec une guirlande de muguet à travers la robe.
Brisbane is with us, very charming. I do not dance — that goes without saying — but we are very much surrounded.
Brisbane est avec nous, très gentille. Je ne danse, pas cela va sans dire mais nous sommes très entourées.
Many acquaintances and nothing interesting, except perhaps Madame Presseq, who was with the Kanchines, to whom I had wished to show myself other than in working clothes.
Beaucoup de connaissances et rien d’intéressant sauf peut-être Mme Presseq qui était avec les Kanchine à qui je voulais me montrer autrement qu’en tenue de travail.
I work on the painting and a portrait of Bojidar — very stylish… Bojidar and Alexis are our commissioners and our other escorts are Messrs. de Souis de Saporta, Engelhardt, Lachaud, Sautereau, Goujon (a Franco-Russian, very rich they say) and many others.
