The day before yesterday my aunt went to the Comédie-Française with the Gavinis, and Gabriel came to the box; he has not left Paris. I shall never understand why he no longer comes to the house. A few people: Mmes Gavini, Jinsingen, Fargman, Moraës, Mlle de Villevieille, Mme de Quincy. Wodzinski posed this morning; he confided that he has made his proposal, and, the family having left, he has had no answer, but he is not positively rejected since they are in negotiations with the father. He said laughingly that he would poison me if I ever told this; he asks my advice on his affairs. Saint-Amand arrives during lunch; he may come to Mont-Dore.

Avant-hier ma tante est allée au Français avec les Gavini et Gabriel est venu dans la loge, il n’a pas quitté Paris. Je ne comprendrai jamais pourquoi il ne vient plus à la maison. Quelques personnes, Mmes Gavini, Jinsingen, Fargman, Moraës, Mlle de Villevieille, Mme de Quincy. Wodzinski a posé ce matin, il m’a confié qu’il a fait sa demande et la famille étant partie n’a pas de réponse mais n’est pas positivement repoussé puisqu’ils sont en affaire avec le père. Il a dit en riant qu’il m’empoisonnerait si je racontais jamais cela, il demande mon avis sur ses affaires. Saint Amand arrive pendant le déjeuner, il viendra peut-être au Mont- Dore.

Wodzinski gave me a stick¹ trimmed with silver, with my monogram and coronet. He is going to La Bourboule along with Rosita and Moraës; it is quite near Mont-Dore.

Wodzinski me fait cadeau d’un stick garni d’argent avec mon chiffre et la couronne. Il va à la Bourboule ainsi que Rosita et Moraës, c’est tout près du Mont-Dore.
