I go out to complete the formalities of registration forms, etc., etc. At the Salon there is a crowd and paintings and wagons and artists!

Je sors pour accomplir les formalités de bulletins etc. etc. Au salon il y a une foule et des tableaux et des camions et des artistes !

I go to the Under-Secretary of State to have him sign my form, the extension having been granted to Mlle Bashkirtseff while my painting is signed Russ.

Je vais chez le sous-secrétaire d'Etat pour qu'il signe mon bulletin, le sursis étant accordé à Mlle Bashkirtseff et mon tableau est signé Russ.

Besides, here is a draft of the form. [Missing] He is very nice. Turquet tells me that people have spoken to him about my painting, then... in short, I no longer remember exactly all the errands I ran.

Du reste voici un brouillon de bulletin. [Manque] Il est très bien. Turquet, il me dit qu'on lui a parlé de mon tableau, puis... bref je ne sais plus au juste, toutes les courses que j'ai faites.

Everyone in the afternoon congratulates me on the extension, and those who have seen the painting congratulate me even more. All this nearly turns my head.

Tout le monde dans l'après-midi me félicite du sursis et ceux qui ont vu le tableau me félicitent encore plus. Tout cela me tourne presque la tête.

A feeling of unease in the evening... Soutzo poses as a friend and advises me to devote myself to painting, given my immense talent.

Un sentiment de malaise le soir... Soutzo se pose en ami et me conseille de me consacrer à la peinture vu mon immense talent.
