Il y a encore des tripotages pour ce monstre... La police est sur le point de l'expulser et je crois que ma mère va intercéder. Pas de commentaires, n'est-ce pas ?

She received a telegram from this man, and when I asked to see it she tore it up. Had there been nothing wrong she would not have done that. Well — what do you want me to say? It is infamous... I made a scene — not too violent a one — and no one stirred until I threatened to write to the Prefect. Oh! then they stirred. I believe approaches had already been made to the Prefect. As for me, all this has killed me for today — my indignation at seeing all these lies and all this filth.

Elle a reçu une dépêche de cet homme et quand j'ai demandé à la voir elle l'a déchirée. S'il n'y avait rien eu de mal elle n'aurait pas fait cela. Enfin que voulez-vous que je vous dise ? C'est infâme... Je leur ai fait une scène pas trop violente et on ne s'est ému que quand j'ai menacé d'écrire au Préfet. Oh ! alors on s'est ému. C'est que je crois qu'on a fait des démarches auprès du Préfet. Moi, tout cela m'a tuée pour aujourd'hui, mon indignation de voir tous ces mensonges et toutes ces saletés
