Robert-Fleury came in the evening. It would be misleading to repeat to you the encouragements he gave me after a long lesson; if what such people say is true, you will know (at the hour when you read this) what to think of me.
I am astonished by it and radiant — like a monster who knew himself beloved by the most beautiful of women.
This evening he treated me rather as a pupil who has done her scales and is now given a real piece to play; he lifted the corner of the curtain and showed me a vaster horizon...
