Well! I am of your opinion — time passes, and it would be a hundred times more amusing to employ it as I once wished, but since that is impossible!
One might have — but it would require perseverance; I have that now, and experience as well — yet I am afraid to risk again. I shall not attempt it until I have achieved a certain result with my talent. There will always be time... as long as I am young. And I am nineteen.
We have changed lodgings and are now at no. 67 avenue de l'Alma — from our windows one can see the carriages passing on the Champs-Élysées. I have a salon-atelier of my own.
Grand-papa was transported — it was so sad to see... Scarcely was he in his room than Dina and I surrounded him and waited upon him, and the poor, poor Grand-papa kissed our hands.
My bedroom reminds me of Naples. A mirror was broken at grand-papa's.
Paul went to deliver to Popaul his card, on which I had written And his sister! then the address.
I shall tell him that my brother did not know there was anything written on it.
Yes, my room reminds me of Naples — the season of travel is approaching and I feel something like the fragrance of the old idleness stealing over me... In vain.
