To go to the studio I inaugurate an otter-fur overcoat reaching to the ground, with a skunk-fur collar.
Blanc left early because the budget has been rejected and because this evening there is a meeting at the Café de la Paix. That wretch Cassagnac really does not care about me — he has quite abandoned me; it is more than a month since one has seen him. He did twice send notes by his manservant, so that Blanc had nothing to do with it, but that is not enough. I am vexed — am I then not at all interesting? Zurlo is in the drawing room.
