Some decorated old fool or other told my lady's maid that I had the look of an artist. There it is! I must be observed closely — I must have some impossible air. Maman advises me to go to Rome and the doctors order it.
I am scarcely recovered, and my throat will fall ill again if I remain in this climate.
Ah, I have the look of an artist!
Yes, but if I go to Rome it will be such a predicament — for I shall go on foot.
I have re-read my intrigues with Antonelli and I greatly fear they may take me for an idiot or for a person who is somewhat free in her behaviour. Free — no. I am from a respectable family... what am I saying.
The Le Figaro piece about the Nice races dealt me a blow from which I still carry bruises.
