Mme Boyd called yesterday.
See if it is not curious — how everything I have undertaken on a Friday or a Monday has gone wrong. In Russia these are two unlucky days. And for me, everything that has caused me trouble has begun and occurred on a Monday or a Friday.
I saw the Duke of Hamilton for the first time — after the formation of the famous plan — on Friday, 13 December 1872. I learned of his marriage on Monday, 13 October 1873. On Monday, 11 May 1874, we left for Spa, where I fell very ill.
Friday, 11 December 1874 — I have a dreadful dream, a certain presage of great troubles; and on Friday, 18 December 1874, we receive the letter from Mme Howard in which she declares all intercourse between us at an end.

Friday, 16 March — I receive his first letter. Friday, 6 April — I speak to the King and give Alexandre the famous Aquarium rendezvous for the following day. Monday, 9 April — he makes that famous declaration. Monday, 23 April — I receive his last note. Friday, 15 June — I learn of his arrival at Nice and form the plan to disguise myself at Monaco.
Mme de Mouzay and her daughter dined here. I visited hotels. I am bored.
